The Taliban Seize Kunduz

“The Taliban seized the city of Kunduz in northern Afghanistan on Sunday. It is the first major city to be overtaken by the insurgents since they began their sweeping military offensive in May,” the New York Times reports.

Wall Street Journal: “In ad­di­tion to Kun­duz, the Tal­iban cap­tured the pro­vincial cap­i­tal of Sar-e-Pul and were on the verge of com­plet­ing the takeover of Talo­qan, the cap­i­tal of nearby Takhar prov­ince.”

Nearly 20 years after 9/11, the U.S. lost at least 2,312 soldiers in a war costing more than $2 trillion.
