Manchin and McCarthy Discuss the Debt Ceiling

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) met with Speaker Kevin McCarthy on the debt ceiling and told reporters that both men agree they don’t want to cut Medicare and Social Security,

But Punchbowl News reports McCarthy wasn’t specific about areas he would propose cuts to, only highlighting “waste, fraud and abuse” in government.

Said Manchin: “It was a very, very, very productive meeting. He was very receptive, he wants to negotiate, he wants to sit down and talk.”
