House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) has dropped out of the race for speaker, the Washington Post reports.
Emmer lost 26 Republican votes in a roll-call tally inside the House Republican Conference.
He is the third GOP nominee to fail or withdraw since Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted three weeks ago.
