Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), the chair of the House Freedom Caucus, called for the next spending bills to set a topline at the $1.59 trillion level previously agreed to by former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and President Biden in the debt ceiling agreement, PBS Newshour reports.
Jamie Dupree: “If the Freedom Caucus had accepted this deal back in June, the funding bills might be near completion, McCarthy would still be Speaker, and there would be a lot more House GOP unity.”
