“Israel’s military said it was intensifying activities underground in northern Gaza and beneath the southern city of Khan Younis, one of Hamas’s last strongholds, where the militant group’s tunnel network presents a serious impediment to an Israeli victory in the territory,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“Israeli forces are tightening their grip over Hamas’s remaining northern bastions, while trying to break the militant group’s control over Khan Younis, but doing so means conquering the vast tunnel network that underpins Hamas’s rule across Gaza.”
