Trump Defends Mike Johnson

“Donald Trump defended embattled House Speaker Mike Johnson, declined to criticize House Republicans over their vote on Ukraine funding and railed against prosecutors trying him in a wide-ranging post-court interview on Monday,” Politico reports.

“The former president, who had spent the day holed up in hostile territory in the Manhattan courtroom where he is being tried, took to conservative airwaves that evening in an effort to reset the conversation.”

Said Trump: “Well, look, we have a majority of one, OK? It’s not like he can go and do whatever he wants to do.”

Playbook: “It’s going to be awfully hard to deny that Trump is being crystal clear in signaling what he wants — or rather, doesn’t want: a messy election-year coup that throws the House into chaos and again reminds voters what MAGA governance can look like.”
