Biden Delivers Energetic Speech in Michigan

An energized President Biden delivered remarks at a rally in Detroit, stirring chants of “lock him up” from the crowd as he attacked his rival, former President Donald Trump, the New York Times reports.

Said Biden: “I’m the only Democrat or Republican who has beaten Donald Trump ever. And I’m going to beat him again. I know him. Donald Trump is a loser.”

Maggie Haberman: “This is the most forceful Biden has been since his State of the Union speech, one that largely quelled Democrats’ concerns about the his age at the time, but which was many months before the debate.”

Nicholas Nehamas: “The number of people who watch this speech will be far, far fewer than the number that watched the debate or even Biden’s news conference last night. But some Democrats on Capitol Hill are texting that this performance is reassuring.”
