“The House began its six-week summer recess this week, a longer-than-traditional break even for an election year. Unable to pass appropriations bills, as we reported last week, members didn’t have anything to do. So they went home to campaign,” the Washington Post reports.
“But even before they left town, lawmakers had already started to check out. We’ve noticed that attendance has dropped significantly over the past few months.”
