“As another New York City institution once said, it’s déjà vu all over again for The New York Times and former Alaska Republican Gov. Sarah Palin,” NPR reports.
“Palin has the rare opportunity to retry her defamation case against the Times even though she lost it twice in a 24-hour period in early 2022. Jury selection is slated to begin Monday in federal court in Manhattan, after a judge’s misstep in the initial suit opened the door to a retrial.”
New York Times: “Much of the trial is expected to be a repeat of the first… What has changed is the country. Trust in the media has declined, and the Manhattan jury pool may have shifted to the right. A number of defamation lawsuits in the past three years have resulted in eye-popping payments, raising the stakes in the Palin case.”
