Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) admitted to having an extramarital affair with an aide who later died by suicide, Politico reports.
Gonzales said he “made a mistake, there was a lapse in judgement” in having an affair with Regina Ann Santos-Aviles in 2024.
House rules bar lawmakers from romantic relationships with any staffer they supervise.
