Mississippi rolled out a controversial method statewide last July to perform the routine job of checking voters’ residences: using unverified credit data to remove 50,000 voters from the voting rolls, Mississippi Today reports.
“Using the credit data, which comes from the consumer-reporting giant Experian, marks a departure from the verified government data that Mississippi and most other states have historically relied on to find out when voters move.”
