Platner Wins Maine Primary Despite Controversies

“Democrats in Maine set aside the controversies surrounding the political newcomer Graham Platner and selected him Tuesday as their nominee to challenge GOP Sen. Susan Collins, promoting a populist candidate with a tax-the-rich message in what is seen as Democrats’ best opportunity for flipping a Republican Senate seat,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

New York Times: “With more than half of Maine’s votes tallied, Mr. Platner was leading decisively in almost every township that had reported so far, though political observers continued to monitor the totals for signs of voter wariness or enthusiasm.”
