Punchbowl News: “For the second week in a row, Speaker Mike Johnson was railroaded by his own colleagues in the House Republican Conference.”

“Thirteen GOP lawmakers rejected Johnson’s efforts to bring a key FY2027 spending package and the annual Pentagon policy bill to the floor on Tuesday. The speaker was forced to send the House home two days early for the July 4 break.”

“This marks the second consecutive week that the plug was pulled on legislative business because of intractable opposition from House Republicans, an embarrassing defeat for Johnson.”
