A Better Trending News Page

I’ve completely rebuilt the Trending News page for members.

The page still does what it’s always done: collect the latest political headlines from dozens of trusted news sources, updated around the clock, newest first.

But now you can make it yours:

  • Customize your feed. Click “Customize your feed” and choose which sources appear. Uncheck any source to hide it. Your choices are saved to your membership account and follow you across devices.
  • Mute keywords. Add words or phrases and any headline containing them disappears from your feed. Tired of a particular storyline? Mute it.
  • Filter headlines instantly. A search box above the feed narrows the list as you type — an easy way to check whether anything happened on a topic today.
  • “New” badges. Stories that arrived since your last visit are tagged, so you can pick up right where you left off.
  • Easier browsing. The feed now shows 50 stories at a time with simple Newer/Older navigation instead of one very long page.
  • Your personal RSS feed. Inside the customize panel you’ll find a private RSS link that applies your muted sources and keywords. Add it to any RSS reader and your custom feed comes with you — it updates automatically whenever you change your preferences on the site.

About Political Wire

Taegan Goddard is the founder of Political Wire, one of the earliest and most influential political web sites. He also runs Political Job Hunt, Electoral Vote Map and the Political Dictionary.

Goddard spent more than a decade as managing director and chief operating officer of a prominent investment firm in New York City. Previously, he was a policy adviser to a U.S. Senator and Governor.

Goddard is also co-author of You Won - Now What? (Scribner, 1998), a political management book hailed by prominent journalists and politicians from both parties. In addition, Goddard's essays on politics and public policy have appeared in dozens of newspapers across the country.

Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.

Goddard is the owner of Goddard Media LLC.
