I’ve completely rebuilt my interactive Electoral Vote Map as the 2028 presidential race comes into view.
For the next few weeks, the map starts with seven battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. They’re the same states that have been at the center of the last several presidential elections.
But consider that a starting point, not a prediction.
The 2026 midterms should tell us much more about the political landscape heading into 2028. Depending on what happens, today’s seven-state battleground could look very different — and potentially much larger — by the time the presidential campaign gets underway.
The new map has been completely redesigned, with a bunch of new ways to explore the electoral math, test different scenarios and share your own map. You can even explore the history of our elections back to 1789 and look at how a new map in 2032 could upend our politics once again.
I think it’s the best electoral map available.
And it’s still a work in progress. If there’s a feature you’d like to see — or something you think that would make the map more useful — please let me know.
