Documents Show Cyberattack In California Race

August 15, 2018 at 1:16 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“FBI agents in California and Washington, D.C., have investigated a series of cyberattacks over the past year that targeted a Democratic opponent of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA),” Rolling Stone reports.

“Rohrabacher is a 15-term incumbent who is widely seen as the most pro-Russia and pro-Putin member of Congress and is a staunch supporter of President Trump.”

“Cybersecurity experts say that it’s nearly impossible to identify who was behind the hacks without the help of law enforcement or high-priced private cybersecurity firms that collect their own threat data. These experts speculate that the hackers could have been one of many actors: a nation-state (such as Russia), organized crime, so-called e-crime or a hacktivist with a specific agenda.”

“Investigators for Special Counsel Robert Mueller are questioning witnesses about an alleged September 2016 meeting between Mike Flynn, who later briefly served as President Trump’s national security adviser, and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, a staunch advocate of policies that would help Russia,” NBC News reports.

“The meeting allegedly took place in Washington the evening of Sept. 20, while Flynn was working as an adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign. It was arranged by his lobbying firm, the Flynn Intel Group. Also in attendance were Flynn’s business partners, Bijan Kian and Brian McCauley, and Flynn’s son, Michael G. Flynn.”

Rohrabacher Defends Hacking as ‘Terrific’

December 16, 2016 at 2:33 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) told CNN that it was “terrific” that voters got more truthful information about Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, regardless of whether the hackers were Russian.

Said Rohrabacher: “The hackers, whether or not they’re Russian hackers, I don’t know. I know the CIA and the FBI disagree as to who the hackers are. But whether they’re Russian hackers or any other hackers, the only information that we were getting from hackers was accurate information, was truthful. And that’s not gonna turn the tide. If the American people have been given more truthful information, that’s terrific.”

Rohrabacher Defends Russia In Interview

December 8, 2016 at 7:14 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Secretary of state candidate Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) told Yahoo News that the United States cooperating with Russia is a good thing and that China is not America’s friend.

In a contentious exchange with reporter Bianna Golodryga, Rohrabacher compared Putin to former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. When Golodryga brought up Russia’s history of alleged human rights abuses, he responded: “Oh, baloney — where do you come from?”

When Golodryga said she immigrated to the United States from the former Soviet republic of Moldova as a political refugee, Rohrabacher retorted: “Then the audience knows you’re biased.”
