‘Lock Her Up’ Talk Worse Than ‘Locker Room Talk’

October 14, 2016 at 8:14 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Charles Krauthammer: “Such incendiary talk is an affront to elementary democratic decency and a breach of the boundaries of American political discourse. In democracies, the electoral process is a subtle and elaborate substitute for combat, the age-old way of settling struggles for power.”

“Vladimir Putin, Hugo Chávez and a cavalcade of two-bit caudillos lock up their opponents. American leaders don’t. One doesn’t even talk like this. It takes decades, centuries, to develop ingrained norms of political restraint and self-control. But they can be undone in short order by a demagogue feeding a vengeful populism.”

Trump Looked Up Models’ Skirts

October 14, 2016 at 7:57 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Yet another woman is alleging that she witnessed inappropriate sexual advances by Donald Trump, now the Republican nominee for president,” the Huffington Post reports.

“Lisa Boyne, a health food business entrepreneur, described a disturbing episode in the mid-1990s: While at a restaurant with her and others, she said Trump paraded women in front of their table, looked under women’s skirts, and commented on whether they were wearing underwear.”

Said Boyne: “It was the most offensive scene I’ve ever been a part of. I wanted to get the heck out of there.”

Senate GOP Drop Trump In Fundraising Pitches

October 13, 2016 at 7:56 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The campaign arm of Senate Republicans has all but excised Donald Trump’s name from their email pitches after previously making him central to their online fundraising efforts — a sign of just how toxic the GOP nominee has become since the video of his lewd comments came out last week,” Politico reports.

Republicans Did Little Vetting of Trump

October 13, 2016 at 6:53 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

John Fund: “For a party that prides itself on promoting business-friendly policies, the Republican party failed to perform the basic due diligence anyone in the private sector would have demanded before hiring someone for a CEO position. In doing that, Republicans ended up not with a leader but with a giant distraction for a nominee. Because GOP voter turnout could be depressed as a result, Republican control of the Senate and even possibly the House is possible. By taking Donald Trump at this word that he had nothing to hide, too many Republican leaders may find they have everything to lose.”

Trump Promises Evidence Against Accuser Claims

October 13, 2016 at 1:43 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Donald Trump “aggressively pushed back on accusations from women who have alleged the now-Republican presidential nominee engaged in sexual misconduct with them,” Politico reports.

Said Trump: “These vicious claims about me of inappropriate conduct with women are totally and absolutely false. And the Clintons know it, and they know it very well. These claims are all fabricated. They’re pure fiction, and they’re outright lies. These events never, ever happened and the people that said them meekly fully understand.”

He continued: “We already have substantial evidence to dispute these lies, and it will be made public in an appropriate way and at an appropriate time, very soon.”

Trump Blocked Request to Do Self-Opposition Research

October 13, 2016 at 1:26 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Donald Trump “rebuffed political aides’ requests to research his past, people familiar with the matter said, a decision that contributed to his campaign being caught unprepared for the past week’s barrage of claims he mistreated women,” Bloomberg reports.

Writer Says She Was Attacked by Trump

October 12, 2016 at 10:51 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Natahsa Stoynoff writes for People magazine about how she was physically attacked by Donald Trump at Mar-a-Largo in 2005:

We walked into that room alone, and Trump shut the door behind us. I turned around, and within seconds, he was pushing me against the wall, and forcing his tongue down my throat.

Now, I’m a tall, strapping girl who grew up wrestling two giant brothers. I even once sparred with Mike Tyson. It takes a lot to push me. But Trump is much bigger—a looming figure—and he was fast, taking me by surprise, and throwing me off balance.

I was stunned. And I was grateful when Trump’s longtime butler burst into the room a minute later, as I tried to unpin myself.

October 12, 2016 at 2:29 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Donald Trump floated the prospect of a “sinister deal” preventing Speaker Paul Ryan from coming to his defense, The Hill reports.

Said Trump: “Wouldn’t you think Paul Ryan would call and say, ‘good going.’ You’d think they’d say, ‘Great going, Don. Let’s go, let’s beat this crook. Let’s beat her, we’ve got to stop her.’ No, he doesn’t do that. Theres a whole deal going on, we’re going to figure it out. I always figure things out. There’s a whole sinister deal.”

October 12, 2016 at 9:04 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) still won’t say whom he’ll support for president, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

“Toomey’s dilemma, with just four weeks to go until Election Day, reflects the way Trump has engulfed the political landscape and left Republicans flailing in his wake as his poll numbers plunge.”

Trump Walked In On Naked Teen USA Contestants

October 12, 2016 at 7:34 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Four women who competed in the 1997 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant said Donald Trump walked into the dressing room while contestants — some as young as 15 — were changing,” BuzzFeed reports.

“Trump, who owned the Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA pageants from 1996 until last year, has publicly bragged about invading beauty queen dressing rooms, calling it one of his prerogatives of ownership.”

Meanwhile, CBS 2 Los Angeles reports Trump just came “waltzing in” while Miss USA contestants were nude or half-nude as they changed into bikinis.

Said Trump: “I wouldn’t want to be in a foxhole with a lot of these people that I can tell you, including Ryan…especially Ryan.”

A Quarter of GOP Officials Won’t Back Trump

October 11, 2016 at 8:37 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

A USA Today survey shows 26% of Republican governors and members of Congress are refusing to endorse Donald Trump.

“It is an extraordinary demonstration of the fracture Trump’s candidacy has revealed in the Republican Party. There is no precedent in modern American political history for elected officials of either party to refuse en masse to support their presidential nominee. It shows that Trump will have to wage a national campaign without the fleet of surrogates and supporters that every other presidential contender has relied on for decades to help bring voters to the polls. And it illustrates how hard it will be for the GOP to rebuild if Trump loses.”
