Corbyn Will Propose Nationalizing Industries

May 11, 2017 · 9:07 am ET · Leave a Comment

British Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn “will lay out plans to take parts of Britain’s energy industry back into public ownership alongside the railways and the Royal Mail in a radical manifesto,” The Guardian reports.

“A draft version of the document, drawn up by the leadership team and seen by the Guardian, pledges the phased abolition of tuition fees, a dramatic boost in finance for childcare, a review of sweeping cuts to universal credit and a promise to scrap the bedroom tax.”

Meanwhile, The Sun notes Corbyn’s car ran over a journalist’s foot as he tried to evade the press.

U.K. Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn “said he will not resign when he lost a symbolic vote of confidence among the opposition party’s lawmakers, ramping up the pressure on him to step down after Britain voted to leave the European Union,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The British Broadcasting Corp. said Mr. Corbyn lost the vote by a margin of 172 to 40.”

“Mr. Corbyn has faced criticism for his relatively lukewarm endorsement of the EU during the referendum campaign. More than two dozen of Mr. Corbyn’s top team have resigned in the last two days saying they have no confidence in his leadership.”
