Money Flows Into Iowa and New Hampshire

“Republican presidential hopefuls are sending an outsize portion of their campaign funds to lawmakers in the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire, as they attempt to win over influential figures ahead of the 2016 campaign, a new report finds,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

“It is not uncommon for politicians to use their PACs to give money to other candidates — leadership PACs, which most potential 2016 candidates have already launched, are structured primarily for that purpose. But giving such a high percentage of contributions to lawmakers in two small states offers a stark portrayal of the lengths to which contenders will go to curry favor with those voters.”

Bush Holds Narrow Lead in Wide Open New Hampshire

A new Bloomberg Politics/Saint Anselm New Hampshire poll finds Jeb Bush has taken a slight lead over other potential Republican presidential candidates.

Bush leads with 16%, followed by Rand Paul at 13%, Scott Walker at 12%, Chris Christie at 10%, Mike Huckabee at 6%, Ben Carson at 6% and Marco Rubio at 5%.

New Hampshire Voters Not Engaged Yet

A new WMUR poll in New Hampshire finds that only 6% of likely Republican presidential primary voters say they have definitely decided who they will support, 9% are leaning toward a candidate, and 85% are still trying to decide.

A new NH1 poll in New Hampshire shows Gov. Scott Walker (R) leading the Republican presidential race with 21% support, followed by Jeb Bush at 14%, Sen. Rand Paul at 8%, Ben Carson at 8%, Gov. Chris Christie at 6%, Mike Huckabee at 6%, and Sen. Marco Rubio at 5%.

A new Bloomberg Politics/Saint Anselm New Hampshire Poll finds Chris Christie leading the GOP presidential field in New Hampshire with 22%, followed by Jeb Bush at 20%, Sen. Rand Paul at 19%, Mike Huckabee at 8%, Ben Carson at 7% and Rep. Paul Ryan at 5%.

Goddard spent more than a decade as managing director and chief operating officer of a prominent investment firm in New York City. Previously, he was a policy adviser to a U.S. Senator and Governor.

Goddard is also co-author of You Won - Now What? (Scribner, 1998), a political management book hailed by prominent journalists and politicians from both parties. In addition, Goddard's essays on politics and public policy have appeared in dozens of newspapers across the country.

Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
