Stormy Daniels Seeks to Depose Trump

March 28, 2018 at 8:01 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Stormy Daniels’ attorney asked a federal judge this morning for permission to depose President Trump about his knowledge of an agreement to pay the porn star $130,000 a week and a half before the 2016 election,” CBS News reports.

“In a motion filed in federal court in Los Angeles, Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, requested a deposition ‘of no greater than two hours’ of the President. Avenatti also asked for a court order to depose the President’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, who has said he made the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels with his own funds and without Mr. Trump’s knowledge.”

Trump Says Stormy Daniels Is Not His Type

March 26, 2018 at 8:47 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

President Trump has privately “lobbed sharp attacks” at Stormy Daniels and her media tour, “calling her allegations a ‘hoax’ and asking confidants if the episode is hurting his poll numbers. The president even has griped to several people that Daniels is not the type of woman he finds attractive,” the Washington Post reports.

“Trump — who was among the estimated 22 million Americans who watched the Daniels interview that aired Sunday night — asked staff in the White House if they, too, had watched and wondered what they thought of it, someone who has spoken to him said. The president said that he personally did not think Daniels appeared credible, added this person, who has talked to the president about his interactions with the pornographic film star and did not want to be identified discussing it.”

Stormy Daniels’ Legal Strategy Suggests She Has Photos

March 26, 2018 at 1:04 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Daily Beast: “First, it’s chiefly concerned with ‘certain still images and/or text messages.’ Yes, later in the agreement, the ‘confidential information’ at issue is expansively defined, to include absolutely anything, tangible or intangible, that Daniels might know about Trump, including, of course, whether she spanked him with a magazine or not.”

“But far more ink is spilled discussing what Daniels is supposed to do with those texts and images: give copies to Cohen and destroy the originals.”

“Now the strategy starts to make sense. This dispute isn’t about the affair: it’s about those pictures or texts. As viewers of Daniels’ 60 Minutes interview surely noticed, the only question Daniels refused to answer was about whether she’s got more evidence of the affair. Avenatti suggested the answer is yes: he tweeted a photo of a DVD inside a safe.”

Why Is Trump Still Trying to Silence Stormy Daniels?

March 23, 2018 at 9:21 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Vanity Fair: “The big question of the alleged Stormy Daniels affair is why this norm-shattering president has declined to simply confess the alleged picayune extramarital affair and instead allowed Daniels to dine out on the story for weeks on end, culminating in a ratings-busting appearance on 60 Minutes?”

Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti’s central theory is simple: Melania Trump.

Said Aventatti: “My speculation has a lot to do with what he’s told his wife before, and likely denials he has provided to her concerning the relationship. And then secondly, I believe it’s part of his larger modus operandi, whereby he attempts to rule with an iron fist. And he tends to rule with an iron fist, even before he became president. And his Stalin–esque way of dealing with opponents.”

The lawyer representing Stormy Daniels claimed that she has faced physical threats, CNN reports.

He said more details would be forthcoming in Daniels’ upcoming interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” which is scheduled to air later this month.

CBS Will Air Stormy Daniels Interview on March 25

Washington Post: “The segment is slated to run later this month, according to people involved in the show. Networks go to great lengths to secure interviews like this — with its promise of salacious new insights into an alleged affair between a president and a porn star, set against the roiling #MeToo movement — and promote them heavily.”

BuzzFeed Gambit Could Allow Stormy Daniels to Talk

March 14, 2018 at 9:09 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“BuzzFeed may have found a legal opening to allow the porn actress Stormy Daniels to discuss her alleged relationship with President Donald Trump and a $130,000 payment she received just before the 2016 election as part of a nondisclosure agreement she is now trying to void,” Politico reports.

“The same Trump attorney who brokered the deal with Daniels, Michael Cohen, filed a libel suit in January against BuzzFeed and four of its staffers over publication of the so-called dossier compiling accurate, inaccurate and unproven allegations about Trump’s relationship with Russia.”

“Now, BuzzFeed is using Cohen’s libel suit as a vehicle to demand that Daniels preserve all records relating to her relationship with Trump, as well as her dealings with Cohen and the payment he has acknowledged arranging in 2016.”

Stormy Daniels Discussed Affair with Trump in 2007

March 13, 2018 at 5:26 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Stormy Daniels discussed her alleged affair with Donald Trump during a May 2007 radio appearance, a well-known Florida radio personality told his listeners, CNN reports.

“Bubba the Love Sponge Clem, known as Todd Clem before he legally changed his name in 1999, played portions of the interview on his radio show Friday and Monday, in which Daniels was asked to write down the names of famous men she had slept with. Clem says the first name on that list was Donald Trump. Although neither Daniels nor the host says Trump’s name in the 2007 audio, she can be heard describing key details that match the description of her alleged affair with Trump.”

Trump Seeking Advice on Handling Stormy Daniels

March 13, 2018 at 11:46 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

President Trump “has been seeking counsel from confidantes on how he should handle the Stormy Daniels situation,” CNN reports.

“The source said Trump is being told by advisers not to fight Daniels’ decision to break a confidentiality agreement because it would make him look guilty. This source said it’s the only reason Trump has stayed quiet on the issue and hasn’t been tweeting about it.”

“The source also believes the controversy potentially poses a bigger threat to Trump’s presidency than Russia. The difference here compared to accusations from other women is that there’s a signed agreement and a payment.”

March 13, 2018 at 8:18 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Three sources confirmed to CNN that Stormy Daniels made new claims about Donald Trump in an interview she taped with 60 Minutes. CBS producers are working on verifying these claims.

“The interview could air on next Sunday’s 60 Minutes. But CBS won’t confirm the air date. In fact, the network won’t even confirm there was an interview at all.”

Stormy Daniels Isn’t Going Away Anytime Soon

March 10, 2018 at 7:45 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

New York Times: “For nearly two months, since the Wall Street Journal first revealed an October 2016 payment to Ms. Clifford (known on screen as Stormy Daniels), the story had subsisted on the margins of national consciousness — a consequence, it seemed, of both the daily Trumpian overload and a wide-scale confusion over what, exactly, the whole affair amounted to. Was it tragedy or farce? Serious or sideshow? Was it all of them, leaving us paralyzed by the choice?”

“Despite the unrelated tumult of this week — tariff policy, staff turnover, nuclear intrigue — the ordeal has begun showing signs of an elusive longevity, coaxed by a lawsuit filed by her lawyer and an acknowledgment from Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, that Mr. Trump’s side had pursued an arbitration proceeding against Ms. Clifford. The White House briefing room has been consumed by repeated questions about the payment.”

Trump Upset with Sanders Over Stormy Daniels Response

March 8, 2018 at 10:23 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

President Trump is upset with White House press secretary Sarah Sanders over her responses Wednesday regarding his alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels, CNN reports.

“On Wednesday, Sanders told reporters that the arbitration was won ‘in the President’s favor.’ The statement is an admission that the nondisclosure agreement exists, and that it directly involves the President. It is the first time the White House has admitted the President was involved in any way with Daniels.”

Said a source: “POTUS is very unhappy. Sarah gave the Stormy Daniels storyline steroids yesterday.”

Why Trump Didn’t Sign Agreement with Stormy Daniels

March 7, 2018 at 9:18 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Michael Avenatti, attorney for porn star Stormy Daniels, told the Today Show why he thinks Donald Trump didn’t sign the confidentiality agreement with his client.

Said Avenatti: “There were three parties to the agreement…two of the three signed. Mr. Trump did not sign. We believe that was so that he could later claim deniability, and therefore, from a legal perspective, we believe she’s free to talk.”

He added that Daniels is prepared to return the $130,000 she was given.

Stormy Daniels Sues Trump

March 6, 2018 at 8:07 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Adult film star Stormy Daniels sued President Trump, “alleging that he never signed the nondisclosure agreement that his lawyer had arranged with her,” NBC News reports.

“The civil suit alleges that her agreement not to disclose her ‘intimate’ relationship with Trump is not valid because while both Daniels and Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen signed it, Trump never did.”
