“A U.S. judge on Tuesday put on hold the Justice Department’s move to drop charges against Michael Flynn, saying he expects independent groups and legal experts to argue against the bid to exonerate President Trump’s former national security adviser of lying to the FBI,” the Washington Post reports.

New York Times: “The judge’s order is the latest twist in a high-profile criminal case that has provoked widespread criticism of Attorney General William P. Barr and renewed questions about political influence over the Justice Department.”

“Lawyers for President Trump this week reiterated their argument that a defamation lawsuit from a woman who alleges Trump groped and kissed her without consent should be halted because the president is immune from lawsuits filed in state courts while serving in office,” the Washington Post reports.

“A new 28-page court brief, filed Monday and released publicly by the New York State Court of Appeals on Tuesday, is Trump’s latest salvo in a multi-front legal battle to limit the ability of private citizens, Congress and even law enforcement to investigate him as a sitting president.”

“President Trump has temporarily withdrawn a controversial dock proposal at his Palm Beach resort that had raised larger questions about the legality of the change of his official residency from New York to Florida,” the Washington Post reports.

President Trump explicitly suggested that MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough had committed murder, Politico reports.

Tweeted Trump: “When will they open a Cold Case on the Psycho Joe Scarborough matter in Florida. Did he get away with murder? Some people think so. Why did he leave Congress so quietly and quickly? Isn’t it obvious? What’s happening now? A total nut job!”

That led Scarborough to respond: “For your sake, as I’ve been saying for years — Donald, for your sake, and for the sake of America, you need to stop watching our show, OK? It’s not good for you.”

Rachel Maddow said on her MSNBC show that there’s something off about President Trump after his coronavirus testing press briefing last night.

Said Maddow: “This is something we should all see. Just because I think it is worth knowing. In all seriousness. That the president, right now, in the midst of this crisis, is visibly struggling. There’s something wrong or he’s just not doing okay, I don’t know, but the president apparently just is not able to keep it together right now in his public appearances.”

She added: “What is wrong with the president today? We don’t know. Something is wrong. Whether or not you, you know, like the president or not, whether you enjoy his public affect or not on a regular basis, it’s clear that there is something wrong.”

Asked by ABC News whether he and President Obama targeted Michael Flynn during the 2016 campaign, Joe Biden let out an enormous sigh and responded: “This is all about diverting attention from the horrible way in which he has acted.”

He added: “We don’t have coronavirus because of him, but we have the devastating impact of it because of his lack of a policy, because of his lack of action. It’s all about diversion.”

President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have agreed to stay away from each other to reduce the risk of both of them being incapacitated by the novel coronavirus, ABC News reports.

“Mark Meadows spent his entire congressional career trying to divorce the Republican Party from its moderate wing. Now he’s trying to make it work with centrist Republicans and even Democrats on Capitol Hill,” Politico reports.

“So far, as President Trump’s new chief of staff, Meadows is receiving bipartisan praise as accessible, personable and good-natured. It’s a surprise for the man who previously chaired the hard-line House Freedom Caucus and once helped take down a speaker from his own party.

“I think President Obama should have kept his mouth shut. You know, we know he doesn’t like much this administration is doing, that’s understandable. But I think it’s a little bit classless frankly to critique an administration that comes after you.”

— Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, quoted by The Hill, on Barack Obama criticizing President Trump’s “absolute chaotic disaster” of a response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“President Trump was pushing to get out in the public eye in recent weeks and tout his leadership during the pandemic, and White House staff thought they had hit on the ideal event: a presidential visit to thank the Pennsylvania factory workers who had recently taken herculean steps to ramp up U.S. supplies of protective equipment,” the Washington Post reports.

“But after extensive back and forth, factory officials ultimately asked to postpone, worried that a visit from Trump could jeopardize both the safety of the workers and the plant’s ability to produce special material for masks and other medical gear.”

“Most White House officials will be asked to wear masks or face coverings in public spaces on complex grounds, a move to prevent coronavirus from spreading further inside the presidential compound,” the Washington Post reports.

“The request does not apply to offices, however, and President Trump is still unlikely to wear a mask or face covering.”

“Nearly 2,000 former Justice Department officials have signed onto a letter calling for Attorney General William Barr to resign over what they describe as his improper intervention in the criminal case of former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn,” ABC News reports.

They called Barr’s actions “extraordinarily rare, if not unprecedented.”

CNN: “Trump administration officials spent the weekend scrambling as they attempted to do contact tracing for Katie Miller, Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary who tested positive for coronavirus last week.”

“But they had not identified who Miller contracted the virus from as of Sunday, raising concerns inside the White House about how to contain the outbreak.”

Jonathan Kravis: “Since my resignation, I have not commented on the Roger Stone sentencing… But I feel compelled to write because I believe that the department’s handling of these matters is profoundly misguided, because my colleagues who still serve the department are duty-bound to remain silent and because I am convinced that the department’s conduct in the Stone and Flynn cases will do lasting damage to the institution.”

“Barr’s decision to…attack his own silenced employees is alarming. It sends an unmistakable message to prosecutors and agents – if the president demands, we will throw you under the bus.
