Crain’s Detroit Business reports Michigan’s Sterling Heights had 165 absentee voter ballots for the August 4 primary election arrive in the mail six days late, underscoring delivery problems with the U.S. Postal Service that could impact the November election.
The late ballots, which now can’t be legally counted despite being postmarked five days before the primary, could have been enough to change the outcome of one Democratic primary for the Macomb County Commission that was narrowly decided by 87 votes.
