“The U.S. Justice Department sent election monitors to four Michigan cities on Tuesday as the state holds a closely watched primary that will set the November lineup for an open U.S. Senate seat — one of the most competitive contests of the 2026 midterms,” Bloomberg reports.
“The department’s Civil Rights Division is watching polls in Detroit, Hamtramck, Lansing and East Lansing, Democratic-leaning cities that are home to some of Michigan’s largest Black, Arab-American and college-student populations.”
