“Steve Bannon, the confidante of President Donald Trump, pleaded guilty Tuesday to defrauding New Yorkers who donated to ‘We Build the Wall,’ an online fundraiser for Trump’s signature project during his first term, in exchange for a sentence without prison time,” ABC News reports.

Steve Bannon will plead guilty in his border wall fraud case in New York in exchange for no prison time, Law 360 reports.

“The Justice Department said on Wednesday that it would not bring charges against anyone affiliated with the group Project Veritas over their role in trying to publish the contents of a diary that had been stolen from Joe Biden’s daughter in the final weeks of the 2020 election campaign,” the New York Times reports.

President Trump said that he was open to an offer by El Salvador’s president to jail convicted criminals, including American citizens, in the Central American nation’s notorious “megaprison,” the New York Times reports.

Said Trump: “If we had the legal right to do it, I would do it in a heartbeat.”

Emily Hernandez, a Missouri woman pardoned by President Trump over her ties to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the Capitol, was sentenced in connection with a drunken-driving crash, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports.

Hernandez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with a deadly crash in January 2022.

“The parents of FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried are exploring ways to secure a pardon for the onetime crypto billionaire from President Donald Trump,” Bloomberg reports.

“Stanford Law School Professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried had meetings in recent weeks with lawyers and other figures considered to be in Trump’s orbit about clemency for their 32-year-old son, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for fraud, the person said. It’s unclear if outreach has been made to the White House.”

Federal prosecutors moved to dismiss criminal charges against former Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE), “who was facing a second trial related to campaign finance violations after a prior conviction was tossed out by an appeals court,” the New York Times reports.

“A man pardoned for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol has been released from federal prison -– but now must face a local charge of soliciting a minor he picked up before the insurrection,” the Houston Chronicle reports.

“An Indiana man was fatally shot by a deputy during a traffic stop just days after he was pardoned by President Donald Trump for a misdemeanor related to the 2021 U.S. Capitol riot,” the AP reports.

A deputy tried to arrest the man when “an altercation took place between the suspect and the officer, which resulted in the officer firing his weapon and fatally wounding the suspect.”

“A federal judge has rescinded his order from last week barring Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the Oath Keepers militia, from entering Washington without his permission,” the New York Times reports.

“In reversing himself, the judge, Amit Mehta, said he agreed with Trump’s new U.S. attorney in Washington, Ed Martin, who had argued that the commutation of sentence extended not just to jail time but also to any post-release supervision as well.”

“As President Donald Trump this week sought to rewrite the history of his supporters’ attack on the US Capitol, a database detailing the vast array of criminal charges and successful convictions of January 6 rioters was removed from the Department of Justice’s website,” CNN reports.

“The searchable database served as an easily accessible and up-to-date repository of all January 6, 2021, cases prosecuted by the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.”

“A federal judge has barred Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes — who was freed from prison by President Donald Trump earlier this week — and several top allies from entering the Capitol without permission,” Politico reports.

Enrique Tarrio thanked Donald Trump for pardoning him for his role in planning the January 6 riot, saying he “literally gave me my life back,” The Guardian reports.

Said Tarrio: “The people who did this, they need to feel the heat, they need to be put behind bars, and they need to be prosecuted.”

He added: “Success is going to be retribution. We gotta do everything in our power to make sure that the next four years sets us up for the next 100 years.”

“Enrique Tarrio thought he would be in prison until 2040. As he waited to board a plane to Miami, now a free man thanks to President Trump, the Proud Boys leader wasn’t certain what was next for him except for one thing: retaliation,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The 40-year-old Tarrio was among the roughly 1,500 individuals who received pardons for their involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. ‘I was innocent of the charges,’ he said in an interview before his flight, but alleged the legal system was ‘weaponized’ against him and others. Now, he said, it’s time to turn the tables and prosecute the prosecutors, including former Attorney General Merrick Garland.”
