Quote of the Day

June 28, 2026 · 11:03 am ET · Leave a Comment

“What I would hope that the Trump administration would do is reconsider this. Look at how it’s going to impact states like Ohio. In Ohio, the Haitians are working primarily in manufacturing. They’re also working in the food area. But if you look at where they’re working across the country, probably the most important area they’re working is in health care. It’s Haitians who are taking care of your mom or your dad who has Alzheimer’s, taking care of family members who might be in a nursing home. And to say we’re going to pull all those out, it’s just not in our own self-interest.”

— Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R), on CNN.

Trump Turned Refugee Program Into Pathway for Whites

June 23, 2026 · 5:03 pm ET · Leave a Comment

New York Times: “Under Mr. Trump, the program has effectively become a whites-only path to life in the United States, a culmination of the president’s longstanding antipathy toward immigrants and his embrace of the concept of “reverse racism” as a guiding principle in his administration.”

“The president has fought to limit immigration for more than a decade, imposing travel bans on mostly African and Muslim-majority nations and making it much more difficult for people from those nations to obtain green cards.”

“They will get an Android tablet, an American flag and copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They will also receive a packet of literature that provides a sanitized, Trump-approved view of American and South African history, one that criticizes racial equity and civil rights laws and promotes claims of discrimination against white people.”

“The welcome bags include a report commissioned by Mr. Trump during his first term that downplays the role of slavery in the country’s founding, and a children’s book accusing South Africa’s government of ‘favoring the Black population.'”

Biden’s Mexico Ambassador Almost Ran for President

June 11, 2026 · 3:32 pm ET · Leave a Comment

“For nearly four years, Ken Salazar — the U.S. ambassador to Mexico under former President Joe Biden — grew increasingly frustrated with the White House’s border plan,” Politico reports.

“Salazar says he begged for a ‘border czar’ to run point on interagency coordination; he never got one, and instead, the moniker was inaccurately and problematically affixed to then-Vice President Kamala Harris. He asked for the White House to openly call it a border ‘crisis’; the designation came too late.”

“Salazar became so distraught that by July 2024, three weeks after Biden’s disastrous presidential debate performance, he decided to take matters into his own hands: ‘I should run for president,’ Salazar told himself, according to his forthcoming book.”
