Ivanka Trump Not Worried About Mueller Probe

February 8, 2019 at 7:21 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Ivanka Trump told ABC News that she “barely” knew about the prospective Moscow deal that the Trump Organization pursued while Trump was also running for president, downplaying the significance of the project’s exploration.

Said Trump: “It’s not like it’s a strange thing, as a hospitality company or a development company, to have a hotel or a property in Russia. We’re not talking about Iran. It was Russia. And we weren’t even advanced enough that anyone had even visited the prospective project site. So it really was just a non-factor in our minds. I’m not sure that anyone would have thought of it.”

Asked if she has any concerns about any of her loved ones being entangled in the ongoing Mueller probe, Trump said: “I’m not. I’m really not.”

She added: “There’s no equivalency to what my father’s spoken about.”

Goodlatte Excuses Ivanka Trump’s Email Violations

November 27, 2018 at 9:37 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) said that it was “awfully tough” for government officials such as Ivanka Trump to comply with agency standards for secure communications when sending emails, Politico reports.

Said Goodlatte: “When things like this come up, it’s important people understand, they need to make sure they’re doing what they can. And it’s awfully tough, as everyone knows, when you’re sending emails about a lot of different things to make sure that you’re doing it according to the rules in the White House or wherever you’re doing it.”

Trump Dismisses Ivanka Email Story as ‘Fake News’

November 20, 2018 at 3:34 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

President Trump on Tuesday dismissed as “fake news” reports that his daughter Ivanka Trump may have violated federal law by using a personal email account to conduct government business, The Hill reports.

Said Trump: “She wasn’t doing anything to hide her emails. There was no deleting like Hillary Clinton did. You’re talking about all fake news.”

Meanwhile, the Washington Post notes that Fox & Friends spent months blasting Clinton’s email use, but gave the Ivanka Trump story just 25 seconds.

Scaramucci Calls Ivanka’s Use of Email ‘Hypocritical’

November 20, 2018 at 8:55 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci told CNN that it was “hypocritical” for Ivanka Trump to send hundreds of emails related to government business using a personal account.

Said Scaramucci: “I think it’ll be a great campaign talking point for Democrats to bring up the fact that she did do it. Certainly I think it’s hypocritical.”

He added: “I think Ivanka, if interviewed about it, she’d have to say that it was a mistake. You can’t do that in that position.”

Ivanka Trump Used Private Email for Official Business

November 19, 2018 at 6:47 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails last year to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules,” the Washington Post reports.

“White House ethics officials learned of her repeated use of personal email when reviewing emails gathered by five Cabinet agencies to respond to a public records lawsuit. That review revealed that she often discussed or relayed official White House business using a private email account with a domain that she shares with her husband, Jared Kushner.”

“Some aides were startled by the volume of Ivanka Trump’s personal emails — and taken aback by her response when questioned about the practice. Trump said she was not familiar with some details of the rules, according to people with knowledge of her reaction.”

Jared and Ivanka Think Kelly Is Behind Op-Ed

September 7, 2018 at 4:53 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Gabriel Sherman: “With Trump so far unable to execute a strategy to stanch the drip-drip-drip of damaging disclosures, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have taken the lead in getting control of the crisis. (The Washington Post reported that Trump said the only people he could trust were his family.) Earlier this week, they told Trump they were deeply troubled by the accounts in Woodward’s book and blamed Chief of Staff John Kelly for many of the leaks, an outside adviser close to them told me.”

Said Ivanka to her father: “He’s destroying your presidency.”

“According to three sources, Jared and Ivanka floated a theory on Wednesday that Kelly could be behind the Times op-ed. Under this scenario, the sources said, the op-ed was written by Zachary Fuentes, the deputy chief of staff, at the direction of Kelly. Jared and Ivanka have told people they suspect this because Kelly is the only one with an ego so large as to have convinced himself that he’s saving the country from Trump, which was one of the op-ed’s principal arguments. On Wednesday night, Ivanka and Jared laid out for Trump the theory that Fuentes might be the author.”

June 18, 2018 at 11:10 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Karen Tumulty: “The first lady’s decision to step into the debate makes the silence of another Trump family member all the more telling. Where is Ivanka Trump, who is actually an official adviser to her father — and the one who claims that family issues are her portfolio?”

“All those photos of crying children don’t look so great on Instagram. Still, Ivanka, there is time to step up. You can do it. Be best.”

Ivanka Trump Was Offered a Trump-Putin Meeting

June 6, 2018 at 1:10 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Amid intense scrutiny of contacts between Donald Trump’s inner circle and representatives of Vladimir Putin, Ivanka Trump’s name has barely come up. But during the campaign, she connected her father’s personal lawyer with a Russian athlete who offered to introduce Donald Trump to Putin to facilitate a 100-story Trump tower in Moscow,” according to emails reviewed by BuzzFeed News.

“There is no evidence that Ivanka Trump’s contact with the athlete — the former Olympic weightlifter Dmitry Klokov — was illegal or that it had anything to do with the election. Nor is it clear that Klokov could even have introduced Trump to the Russian president. But congressional investigators have reviewed emails and questioned witnesses about the interaction… and so has special counsel Robert Mueller’s team.”

Jared and Ivanka Offered ‘Bribe’ to Stop Abortions

April 4, 2018 at 8:58 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards writes in her new memoir that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump offered the organization increased federal funding if it stopped providing abortions, People reports.

Writes Richards: “If it wasn’t crystal clear before, it was now. Jared and Ivanka were there for one reason: to deliver a political win… In their eyes, if they could stop Planned Parenthood from providing abortions, it would confirm their reputation as savvy dealmakers. It was surreal, essentially being asked to barter away women’s rights for more money.”

Washington Post: “On a small table in Ivanka Trump’s well-appointed office sit several pictures of her kids, a framed copy of Trump’s typed ‘Remarks Regarding the Capitol of Israel’ — signed ‘To Ivanka, Love Dad’ in the president’s oversized Sharpie scribble — and the lyrics to Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ handwritten to her by one of the songwriters.”

Ivanka Trump Never Cut Ties with the Trump Organization

March 12, 2018 at 8:17 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

McClatchy: “Ivanka Trump — a senior White House adviser who is doing everything from lobbying the Senate on tax policy to representing her father at a G20 summit of world leaders — will pull in more than $1 million a year from the family business that has continued to develop luxury resorts across the globe during the Trump presidency.”

“Some of those Trump-branded developments are hiring state-owned companies for construction, receiving gifts from foreign governments in the form of public land or eased regulations and accepting payments from customers who are foreign officials.”

“Ivanka Trump’s continued relationship with the businesses affiliated with the Trump Organization creates countless potential conflicts of interest prohibited by federal law and federal ethics standards as she works as a special assistant to the president. And just like her father, she is being accused of violating the so-called emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution that forbids government officials — not just presidents — from accepting gifts from foreign governments without the approval of Congress.”
