Georgia U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker (R) claimed that he’s “never heard” Donald Trump say that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him.

“Larry Ellison, the billionaire co-founder of Oracle and the biggest backer of Elon Musk’s attempted Twitter takeover, participated in a call shortly after the 2020 election that focused on strategies for contesting the legitimacy of the vote,” the Washington Post reports.

Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, pressed Arizona lawmakers after the 2020 election to set aside Joe Biden’s popular-vote victory and choose “a clean slate of Electors,” according to emails obtained by the Washington Post.

Her emails argued that legislators needed to intervene because the vote had been marred by fraud.

“The Republicans running against Herschel Walker for U.S. Senate are crisscrossing the state this week, looking for every vote they can get and making a similar argument: Walker can’t win in a November general election against Democrat Raphael Warnock,” the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

“Attorney John Eastman urged Republican legislators in Pennsylvania to retabulate the state’s popular vote — and throw out tens of thousands of absentee ballots — in order to show Donald Trump with a lead, according to newly unearthed emails sent in December 2020,” Politico reports.

“Newly obtained text messages and recent court filings fill in significant gaps about the key role a little-known Pennsylvania Republican congressman played at almost every turn in scheming to reverse or delay certification of the 2020 election,” CNN reports.

“The texts, which were among those selectively provided by Donald Trump’s former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to the House select committee, show Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) pushing to have the nation’s top intelligence official investigate baseless conspiracy theories and working to replace the US acting attorney general with an acolyte willing to do Trump’s bidding.”

“Perry, a five-term congressman, is a retired Brigadier General with nearly 40 years of military service, including flying combat missions in Iraq. Given his extensive background, he is likely familiar with the inner-workings of government intelligence.”

“A former aide to ex-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows testified to the Jan. 6 Select Committee that Meadows met with several right-wing House members in December to discuss efforts to overturn the election,” Axios reports.

As expected, Donald Trump formally endorsed J.D. Vance (R) in Ohio’s Republican Senate primary, Axios reports.

New York Times: “The move amounted to a major bet on Mr. Vance and on Mr. Trump’s influence over Republican primary voters in conservative-leaning Ohio, where several high-profile candidates are facing off in a contentious and at times nasty campaign to replace the retiring Senator Rob Portman, a Republican.”

Dropping a major endorsement on a Friday afternoon — on Good Friday — seems like odd timing.

“Newly released text messages between Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows show Lee was advising and assisting former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election,” the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

“The messages also reveal Lee was aware of a legally dubious strategy to have then-Vice President Mike Pence throw out Electoral College votes much earlier than he had claimed.”

Jonathan Chait: Republican Senator blurts out that he hates democracy.

“Just as he was emerging as a top target of the House committee investigating the Capitol attack, former Trump lawyer John Eastman took a trip to Wisconsin,” ABC News reports.

“Eastman, a right-wing lawyer who drafted a plan for former President Donald Trump to cling to power by falsely claiming then-Vice President Mike Pence could reject legitimate electors during the 2020 presidential election, was part of a small group of Trump allies who secured a private meeting last month to try and convince the Republican leader of the Wisconsin state Assembly to decertify President Joe Biden’s win.”

When it comes to the 2020 election and Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the results, a new Quinnipiac poll finds Americans are divided: 46% of Americans think Trump committed a crime, while 48% think he did not.

“Shortly after the 2020 election, Virginia ‘Ginni’ Thomas, the conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, sent an email to an aide to a prominent House conservative saying she would have nothing to do with his group until his members go ‘out in the streets,’” NBC News reports.

“Thomas told an aide to incoming Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks (R-IN) that she was more aligned with the far-right House Freedom Caucus, whose leaders just two months later would lead the fight in Congress to overturn the results of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory.”
